In 1959 the Rev Thomas Kyle published a short (and not terribly well arranged) history of the church. The main pages of the history can be downloaded here. Click here to download this file
Miss Jane Adams, who was for many years the Organist and Overseas Missions Secretary, prepared notes for the Rev Kyle in connection with that exercise, which were later transcribed by the Rev Morley Thompson. They start with three extracts from John Wesley's Journal, relating to his passages through Donaghadee, and include the title page of the original lease for the site of the Methodist Chapel, signed in 1812. Some of this material can be downloaded here, together with an extract from an article written about the church in 1932 and an extract from the Register of Baptisms for 1826.
These are large files, which may take a little time to download.
The Baptismal Roll for 1826 to 1849 can be downloaded here. The spelling of names is inconsistent, as would be expected at this period, and some cannot be deciphered with confidence, but the record casts light on the lives and occupations of a number of local families.
A further instalment of Miss Adams' notes, copying from the journal of the Rev. Matthew Lanktree, can also be downloaded here. Some, but not all, of this material was used by the Rev. Kyle in his history.
There are more notes by Miss Adams, which we would hope to publish in due course.
